Hanyu Pinyin celebrates its 50th birthday
I found it coherent and useful when learning Mandarin, says the white guy who only knew English and French beforehand.

I've been known to refer to Pinyin as Chinese ebonics. Perhaps I'll have to stop being a snob about it. Such as, if I end up using Pinyin to learn Mandarin. The Traditional-Chinese learner in me holds steadfast. Today is not that ... |
