Traditional media companies have seen the future and it's a vast, connected universe in which users demand their content any time, any place, in a multitude of different forms... media executives have turned to the technology industry to arm them in their fight to win the hearts and minds (to coin a phrase) of the young, internet savvy, hyper multi-tasking consumer... [Cites Disney and president Bob Iger on how to combat piracy.] He is echoed by Leslie Moonves, president and chief executive of US TV network CBS, who says that CBS's goal is to form "deeper, more interactive communities" around its content... Mr Moonves says: "The bottom lines is this. There's no such thing as old or new media any more. There is just media." Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft... says: "There are some key things missing, and in particular the key thing missing is the connection. It's an environment where people want to do things across multiple devices, working with many other people."... Padmasree Warrior, chief technology officer of Motorola, says: "The mobile phone... is going to be the device to connect the world".
