100 Essential Jazz Albums
David Remnick and Richard Brody from The New Yorker have compiled a list of essential jazz albums "more as a guide for the uninitiated than as a source of quarrelling for the collector". I want, like, all of these.

Surprised to see Bix and Chick on there. Solid list, needed a nod to Clark Terry (although he's on at least one of the Ellington albums). Recent selections (post 1980) leave a bit to be desired. |
