Ma.gnolia Blog: Ma.gnolia Meets Upcoming.org + Save The Date

Some of you may remember back when we rolled out our first mash-in, Mark Like a Connoisseur (View Details), where we pull in information about the wines you bookmark in Cork’d (View Details).

Too many months later, we’re super-happy to announce a similar sort of integration with Upcoming.org (View Details).

Upcoming is a social event tracking and management system. I’ve grown to love and use it to discover new ways to meet people, schedule my social calendar, and see who is going to be at the same happenings.

In fact, it’s where we’ve announced Upcoming.org: Ma.gnolia’s First Birthday Party (View Details). As you can see if you “View Details”, not only will we show the upcoming favicon in bookmark lists next to Upcoming event listings, we pull all sorts of data about the event into the bookmark details page.

Of course, you’re all invited to the party! Chef Andrew will supply nibbles; wine will be exhumed from my cellar – there will be nothing younger than 10 years; and, we may even have some live music. Help us get a head count: grab an Upcoming.org account if you don’t have one and RSVP there.

Finally, our standard blog-post ending: we’d love to hear about other sites you’d like to see us integrate with more closely and how we could make the external data we collect more relevant to your Ma.gnolia experience.

I would really like to see an integration with iTunes so that I could bookmark tracks, albums, artists and have the relevant data show up in the bookmark displays.

Larry, this is awesome! I love that ma.gnolia is supporting microformats, but I'm surprised that the detail site on the bookmark does not reproduce the hcal event. Ma.gnolia outputs hcards and rel-tags, this would be a great contribution to the uF community.

I agree with Steve -- it'd be great to maintain the hcal formatting from Upcoming.

And Henry's idea rules -- though I'm not sure how you'd implement it. I guess one way would be to bookmark the phobos server link that opens in iTunes? Maybe?

Anyway, congrats guys -- another great mash-in! Can't wait for more!

Very nice.

One idea in passing: how about doing a mash-in with flickr. Flickr allows me to mark individual photos (they call them favorites), but not photosets or groups. Maybe there's something to be done in that area?
