Ma.gnolia Blog: JSON, HTML, and Microformats. Oh, My!

In last night’s post about our new Publish and Subscribe page, Todd touched on some new ways to get Ma.gnolia Bookmarks.

Two of these formats are in wise use already, JSON and HTML. Member Sean Brady has already pointed out that the plain HTML format would great for mobile viewing.

However, we’re especially intrigued by the possibilities for our Microformats feeds. These feeds are bare-bones Microformatted html documents with support for looking at our bookmarks in several different ways: as plain bookmarks in xFolk, as blog entries in hAtom, as reviews in hReview, and as all of the above combined.

Providing these feeds is really a big experiment for us. We’re not sure how they’ll be used, or even if they’ll be used. So, please, check them out; and, if you come up with something be sure to let us know!

I will be curious to see what can be done with these Microformat documents as well. I am having trouble seeing where these feeds are different from the others that are offered...at least in terms of usability. Would love to hear from Chris or any Microformat proponent about some of the possible uses...just to get my head wrapped around the idea.

And, thanks for the shout out, now I am famous.

You're a star Sean. Next time you know it you'll be signing autographs. As for me I suppose it's time I try to understand what JSON is all about :>
